Compression Fittings
Brass and stainless steel compression fittings for mounting temperature probes, in imperial BSP threads (1/8" to 3/4", tapered or parallel) and metric threads (M8 to M20). Choose the thread to suit your process connection and the bore to suit your probe diameter, or ask us to fit one to a custom sensor.

Choosing a compression fitting for a temperature probe
A compression fitting holds a temperature probe securely in a pipe, tank or vessel. Tightening the nut squeezes an olive onto the probe sheath, so you can set the insertion depth exactly and still adjust it later.
Thread types and sizes
- Imperial tapered (BSPT): 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" and 3/4" BSP, in brass or stainless steel. The tapered thread seals as it is tightened.
- Imperial parallel (BSPP): the same BSP sizes in brass or stainless steel, sealed with a washer or bonded seal on the face.
- Metric threaded: M8, M10, M12, M16 and M20 stainless steel compression fittings.
Brass or stainless steel?
Brass fittings are a cost-effective choice for general use with water, air and oils. Stainless steel suits higher temperatures, corrosive media and hygienic applications such as food processing.
Matching the fitting to your probe
Each fitting is bored to suit the probe diameter, from fine mineral insulated sheaths up to 6 mm, and imperial sizes such as 1/8", 3/16" and 1/4". Tell us the probe diameter when you order, or order the fitting with a custom temperature probe and we will supply them assembled. Standard compression cable clamps are also available for securing cable runs.
