ICT Support

Our business is supplying weather monitoring equipment that often comes with computer connectivity and software. As a result, we are often asked to provide support and services above and beyond the hardware and software we have supplied.

Because our customers connect the equipment to a wide variety of computers and operating systems, each set up differently, we cannot know every user's local setup. What we can say for sure is that the products we supply work well in any standard environment.

We do not set out to provide ICT support beyond our own products, but we do have skills and experience in this area. If you are having problems getting your weather station software to work, and these are related to your computer, its operating system or setup, we may be able to help where your computer hardware and software vendor or support service cannot. This is charged at commercial ICT support rates.

Website Design and Integration

Some of the products we sell are designed to publish data to the internet for viewing on a website. The technologies and protocols used are as simple as possible and present no challenge to anyone with basic computing and web publishing skills. Apart from entering the correct information in the weather station software, the user only needs to understand very simple HTML.

However, in commercial situations we sometimes find a gap between the client and their website designer. The client knows what they want to achieve but may lack the knowledge or direct access to their web service, while their website designer does not have access to the PC connected to the weather station and may not be familiar with the weather station software.

In this kind of situation we can act as an intermediary between the client and their website designer, or take over the weather publishing side of their website. This is charged at commercial web design rates.

Special Projects

Using our own skills, and those of developers and designers we work with, we may be able to take on special projects. These have included:

• Collecting distributed data over LAN, WLAN, WAN, GSM and GPRS.
• Interfacing with software solutions or protocols such as Modbus.
• Presenting collections of data on the web.

For work like this, we scope the project and agree charges, terms and conditions before starting.
